Agreement to Terms

Please read these Terms and Conditions ("Terms") carefully before using the Blom Social mobile application (the "App") and related services (collectively, the "Service") operated by Blom Social Ltd ("we," "us," or "our").

By accessing or using our Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you disagree with any part of these Terms, you may not access the Service.

These Terms apply to all users, visitors, and others who access or use the Service. By creating an account or using the Service, you represent that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms and our Privacy Statement.

About Blom Social

Blom Social Ltd is registered in England and Wales, with its registered office at 9 Bourne Road, Bexley, England, DA5 1LW. We also operate in South Africa through our registered South African entity.

Blom Social is a social discovery platform that uses personality-based matching to group compatible people for real-world events. Our Service includes personality quizzes, event matching, group formation, chat functionality, and attendance tracking.

Eligibility and Account Registration

Age Requirements

You must be at least 18 years old to use our Service. By creating an account, you represent and warrant that you are 18 years of age or older. If we discover that you are under 18, we will immediately terminate your account and delete all associated data.

Account Creation

To use our Service, you must:

  • Provide accurate, current, and complete information during registration
  • Upload a clear profile photo showing your face
  • Complete our personality quiz truthfully
  • Select your city (currently London or Cape Town)
  • Maintain the security of your account credentials

Account Requirements

  • Profile Photo: You cannot join events without uploading a clear profile photo
  • Accurate Information: All profile information must be truthful and current
  • One Account: You may only maintain one account per person
  • Personal Use: Accounts are for personal, non-commercial use only

How Blom Social Works

Event Discovery and Joining

  • Browse available events labeled as "Singles" or "Social"
  • Spend 1 token to join an event's matching pool
  • Invite friends through our "Buddy Up" feature
  • Wait for matching 24 hours before the event

Matching Process

  • Our algorithm groups compatible users based on personality quiz responses
  • Singles events aim to maintain equal gender ratios
  • Social events have mixed groups with no gender restrictions
  • You'll receive group details and venue information 24 hours before the event

Event Attendance

  • Attend your assigned event at the specified time and location
  • Check in using our QR code system with other attendees
  • Your attendance rate affects future matching priority
  • Rate the event and other participants afterward

Matches and Communication

  • Rate other participants positively, neutrally, or negatively
  • Mutual positive ratings create "matches"
  • Use our in-app chat to communicate with matches
  • Unmatch at any time to stop communication

Token System and Payments

Token Usage

  • Events cost 1 token to join
  • Tokens are purchased through Apple App Store or Google Play Store
  • Tokens do not expire
  • Earn 1 free token for every 4 events you attend
  • Attendance streak bonuses award additional tokens

Purchase Limits

To prevent fraud and abuse, we may implement reasonable daily purchase limits.

Refund Policy

Event Cancellations by You:

  • More than 48 hours before event: Full token refund
  • 48 hours or less before event: No refund
  • No-show: No refund

Event Cancellations by Blom Social:

If we cancel an event (due to low attendance, weather, venue issues, etc.), you will receive a full token refund.

Account Deletion

If you delete your account, all unused tokens are forfeited and cannot be refunded.

User Conduct and Prohibited Activities

Acceptable Use

You agree to use our Service respectfully and lawfully. You must:

  • Treat other users with respect and kindness
  • Provide accurate information in your profile and quiz responses
  • Attend events you've joined or cancel with adequate notice
  • Follow venue rules and local laws during events
  • Report inappropriate behavior through our reporting system

Prohibited Activities

You agree not to:

  • Harassment: Engage in any form of harassment, bullying, or threatening behavior
  • Fake Profiles: Create false accounts or impersonate others
  • Commercial Use: Use the Service for business, advertising, or promotional purposes
  • Inappropriate Content: Share explicit images, offensive content, or spam
  • System Abuse: Attempt to hack, reverse engineer, or misuse our systems
  • Multiple Accounts: Create more than one account per person
  • No-Shows: Repeatedly fail to attend events you've joined

Enforcement

We review all reported behavior and may take the following actions:

  • Warning or temporary account suspension
  • Permanent account termination
  • Forfeiture of tokens and matches
  • Reduced matching priority for poor attendance

Content and Intellectual Property

Your Content

You retain ownership of all content you upload to our Service (photos, messages, profile information). However, by uploading content, you grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to use, display, and store your content solely for providing our Service.

We will not use your photos for marketing purposes without your explicit consent.

Content Guidelines

  • Profile Photos: Must clearly show your face and be appropriate
  • No Explicit Content: No nudity, sexually explicit, or offensive images
  • Your Own Content: Only upload content you own or have rights to use

Our Content

The Blom Social app, including its design, features, algorithms, and branding, is our intellectual property. You may not copy, modify, distribute, or reverse engineer any part of our Service.

Disclaimers and Limitation of Liability

Service Disclaimer

Our Service is provided "as is" and "as available." While we strive to provide a safe and enjoyable experience, we make no warranties about the reliability, accuracy, or availability of our Service.

Event Liability

Important: Blom Social events take place in public venues (cafes, parks, studios, etc.). We are not liable for any injuries, accidents, or incidents that occur during events. You participate at your own risk.

User Interactions

We are not responsible for the behavior or actions of other users, whether during events or in private communications. You interact with other users at your own risk and discretion.

Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Blom Social shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including loss of profits, data, or goodwill, arising from your use of our Service.

Third-Party Services

App Store Terms

If you download our App from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store, you also agree to their respective terms of service. In case of conflict between our Terms and the app store terms, the app store terms shall prevail for app store-related matters.

In-App Purchases

Token purchases are processed by Apple or Google according to their payment terms. Refund requests for in-app purchases must follow their respective policies.

External Services

We use third-party services (Supabase, Expo, etc.) to provide our Service. These services have their own terms, and we are not responsible for their actions or availability.

Child Safety and Anti-Exploitation Policy

Zero Tolerance Policy: Blom Social has a strict zero-tolerance policy regarding child sexual abuse and exploitation (CSAE).

This policy applies to all users of the Blom Social mobile application and related services worldwide.

Age Verification and Enforcement

Blom Social is exclusively designed for adults aged 18 and over. We implement strict measures to ensure compliance:

  • Mandatory Age Declaration: All users must confirm they are 18 or older during registration
  • Profile Photo Requirements: Users must upload clear photos showing their face for verification
  • Account Termination: Accounts of users under 18 are immediately terminated and all data deleted

Prohibited Content and Activities

The following activities are strictly prohibited on Blom Social and will result in immediate account termination:

  • Any content involving minors: Photos, messages, or references to individuals under 18
  • Child exploitation material: Creation, distribution, or possession of CSAE content
  • Age misrepresentation: Falsifying age information to access the platform

Reporting and Detection Mechanisms

Blom Social provides multiple ways for users and the public to report suspected violations:

  • In-App Reporting: Users can report suspicious profiles or behavior through our reporting system
  • Email Reports: Direct reports can be sent to hello@blom.social
  • User Community: Our community actively helps identify and report inappropriate behavior

Enforcement Actions

When violations are detected or reported, Blom Social takes immediate action:

  • Immediate Account Suspension: Suspected accounts are suspended pending investigation
  • Content Removal: All violating content is immediately removed from our platform
  • Permanent Account Termination: Confirmed violations result in permanent account deletion
  • Data Preservation: Evidence is preserved for law enforcement investigations

Emergency Reporting: If you encounter content involving the exploitation of minors, please contact local law enforcement immediately and report to us at hello@blom.social.

Service Changes and Termination

Service Modifications

We may modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of our Service at any time. For material changes affecting user experience, we will provide at least 1 week's advance notice through the App or email.

Users are not entitled to refunds for service changes they don't agree with.

Account Termination

You may delete your account at any time through the App settings. We may terminate accounts that violate these Terms.

Upon termination, your access to the Service will cease, and we may delete your account data according to our Privacy Statement.

Dispute Resolution

Informal Resolution

Before pursuing formal legal action, we encourage you to contact us at hello@blom.social to resolve disputes informally. We're committed to finding fair solutions.

Governing Law and Jurisdiction

These Terms are governed by:

  • For UK users: English and Welsh law, with disputes handled by English courts
  • For South African users: South African law, with disputes handled by South African courts
  • For users in other jurisdictions: English and Welsh law

Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we make changes, we will:

  • Notify users of significant changes via email or in-app notification
  • Provide at least 1 week's notice before material changes take effect

Your continued use of our Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

Miscellaneous

Severability

If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue in full effect.

Entire Agreement

These Terms, together with our Privacy Statement, constitute the entire agreement between you and Blom Social regarding your use of our Service.

Assignment

We may assign these Terms or our rights hereunder without restriction. You may not assign your rights under these Terms without our written consent.

These Terms and Conditions were last updated on 27 August 2025 and are effective immediately.
